About Rick

Clinical knowledge. Lived experience. No euphemisms.

Rick Leach, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, writes at the intersection of mental health, politics, war, masculinity, race, and moral accountability.

PRPsychiatRick

I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, a combat infantry veteran, and a writer. PsychiatRick is where those parts of my life stop pretending they are separate.

I served as an Army infantryman in Iraq, worked across emergency, intensive, and home-health nursing, and later became a psych NP. My writing follows what power does to people, what trauma leaves behind, and what happens when healthcare, politics, war, race, and masculinity collide.

I write from evidence, clinical experience, and lived experience. I also write plainly. People do not need psychiatric language used as camouflage for cruelty, inequality, or political cowardice.

Between Visits is a separate PsychiatRick project offering self-guided check-ins, coping exercises, and meditation. It is software, not therapy or clinical monitoring.
